Sound Reduction

If you live near a busy street or an airport, you know all about airborne sounds – the unwanted noises that can invade your living space, hindering your comfort and enjoyment. A Spray Foam insulation system is an effective barrier to airborne sounds. Its superior fit makes it an ideal sound proofing system, reducing airborne sound transfer through the roof, floor and walls. Outside noises such as road noise, road traffic, aircraft and trains stay outside. Inside, there are far fewer complaints about outside or next door noises.

Spray Foam insulation is also ideal for specialty applications such as soundproofing the interior walls of your home theater room, home media room, powder rooms, master bedroom, laundry rooms, or in plumbing walls to reduce the sound of water rushing to drainage below.

Spray Foam’s unique air sealing qualities can help reduce the amount of airborne sound penetrating your home.

By virtue of its low permeability to air, its adhesion to other building materials and its flexibility, a Spray Foam insulation system becomes much more than just insulation. It provides superior air leakage control, moisture control and sound control in addition to insulation, thus becoming a one step insulation, moisture/vapor barrier, wind barrier system.

Seal Tech does recommend the caulking of base plates to further reduce air infiltration and moisture protection of the wood/metal materials with building wrap such as Tyvek.

Unlike “loose fill” insulation methods that do not wind proof building cavities, the air sealing characteristics of a Spray Foam insulation system provide virtually the same r-value in the field as it does in the laboratory where the r-value is measured. Cold air in winter and hot muggy air in summer just cannot pass through foam like it can through most other insulating materials, providing the best sound proofing to reduce exterior and interior noise.
