Common Insulation Problems in Livonia Homes
Livonia grew rapidly after World War II, and much of its housing stock — brick ranches, colonials, and Cape Cods built between the 1950s and 1970s — was built to insulation standards far below what Michigan's climate demands today. In many Livonia homes we find shallow, settled attic insulation, uninsulated knee walls behind Cape Cod second floors, and hollow exterior walls that leak heat all winter. The result is uneven room temperatures, ice dams along the roof edge, and heating bills that spike every January.
