The short answer

It starts with a rig that heats and meters the two foam components precisely, continues with trained applicators who build the foam up in even passes, and ends with a walkthrough that checks depth, coverage, and gaps before drywall.

What the crew says in the video

  • The rig tour covers the suction systems, the manifold, and the equipment that keeps temperature and pressure consistent (a Graco Reactor E-30).
  • Training: spraying is an intensive trade. Applicators move side to side, overlap each pass about halfway, and avoid big bubbles. It looks easy and is not.
  • The final walkthrough on a Bloomfield Hills project checks depth (5.5″ to 7″ there), full cavity coverage, and sealed gaps around windows, so the job is ready for drywall.

1. The rig

Spray foam is made on site from two liquid components. A proportioner in the rig heats them and pumps them through heated hoses at a precise ratio and pressure. If temperature or ratio drifts, the foam will not cure the way it should. That is why professional equipment matters as much as the material.

2. The applicator

Good spray foam goes on in controlled, overlapping passes, built up to the specified thickness. Too thick in one pass can cause problems; too thin leaves gaps. New installers train alongside experienced crew before they spray on a customer’s home.

3. The quality check

Before the job is called done, the crew checks thickness, coverage, and how the foam cured, seals any gaps around windows and penetrations, and trims foam so drywall can go on cleanly. On new construction, the work also has to pass the local insulation inspection.

4. Cleanup and walkthrough

The crew removes masking and debris and walks the finished work with you.

Seal Tech tip: Ask any contractor what thickness they are installing in each area, and how they verify it.
